Thanks Jess. It’s important that girls take up science, as we have a very important contribution to make. We all think differently, so to have only one group taking part in science means that we could miss out on important discoveries. What we have seen is that girls are put off science at an early age and as we have to make subject choices in school very early, then they are lost to science. We already have a book Lab Coats And Lace which looks at key Irish women scientists. I would do a poster/website version of that to show girls that women who were from the same city/town were able to excel in science. It’s being able to give girls role models so that they can think ‘I can do that too’ . What do you think?
