We live in the era of data and computers, with scientists collecting massive amounts of information to analyse and use in a multitude of ways. Data can be gathered from all sorts of place, for example social media, or information from satellites in space. But what do they do with it all?
In this zone you will meet one scientist using computers to predict how growing different crops could affect climate change, one trying to find patterns in biology which could help doctors choose the best treatment for a cancer patient and one who creates data visualisations that help to deliver HIV care in South Africa. There is also a scientist who uses computer simulations to understand why different materials behave in different ways and another who looks at data from devices used in a hospital to see what could be changed or improved.
